GENERAL LEW WALLACE STUDY & MUSEUM

Home of Ben-Hur
This National Historic Landmark was designed and built by General Lew Wallace as a personal study. Best known as the author of Ben-Hur, Lew Wallace (1827-1905) was a Renaissance Man and notable Hoosier. The Museum houses personal mementos from his service as the Minister to Turkey (1881-1885), Governor of New Mexico Territory (1878-1881), Civil War Major General, and Vice-President of the trial of those who conspired to assassinate President Lincoln. His artwork, violins, inventions, and library are on display, along with memorabilia from various adaptations of Ben-Hur, including the 1959 Oscar-winning version starring Charlton Heston. The Museum is located on 3.5-acres of wooded grounds and is equipped with picnic tables and handicapped-accessible restrooms.

Admission is $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for students. Please visit our website at www.ben-hur.com or contact the museum directly at 765-362-5769 or info@ben-hur.com for more information. Group tours can be arranged by appointment.
