SUGAR CREEK TRAIL
The Sugar Creek Trail links Crawfordsville High Scholl the Big Four Rail corridor. It proceeds west to the R.R. Donnelley Trailhead Park and on to Sugar Creek. Our trail will preserve part of the railroad dating to 1853. Rails-to-Trails programs have been popular around the country, as they serve many recreational uses while preserving the railroads for future transportation.
A Recreational Trails Program grant has been awarded for improvements at the Rock River Trailhead Park. While there are still some technical issues to work out before the work can be started, the highlights of the grant will provide improved parking, signage, a canoe launch, ADA compliant access to the trail, and hopefully a .50 mile extension to the west, providing access to Biggs Bluff (formerly the Montgomery County Youth Camp) which will be developed for hiking and mountain biking
